Cardiff City and Wrexham AFC will compete in the Genero Adran Trophy Final on Sunday 22nd February in Bangor, after both sides completed convincing wins in the semi-finals of the competition on Sunday.
The Bluebirds were inspired by Madison Lloyd against Trophy holders The New Saints, starting for Cardiff City for the first time since recovering from an ACL injury. Lloyd fired home from a Ffion Price corner after 14 minutes played at Park Hall.
It would quickly be two for Cardiff. Mackenzie Olden was on the end of a ball across goal from Fiona Barry, finishing from close range to put Iain Darbyshire’s side in full control.
The New Saints searched for a way back into the game during the second half, but the game would be put out of sight with 20 minutes left to play. It was Lloyd again with the goal, after a pass through from Olden, completing a 3-0 win for Cardiff City, and a spot in the final at Bangor City Stadium.
They will face Wrexham AFC, who put six past Briton Ferry Llansawel at The Rock in a dominant display, as Jenny Sugarman’s side made the Genero Adran Trophy for the first time in their history.
Faye Knox scored a hattrick on their way to a 6-0 win, including a free-kick in the opening stages of the game. Jodie Bartle also scored early in the second half.
Rosie Hughes scored twice to round the game up for Wrexham, but after a challenge late on was shown a straight red card, with the forward set to miss the final.
In what looks like the battle for 2nd in the Genero Adran North, Llanfair United put five past Flint Town United, despite having to come from behind in the game at Mount Field.
It comes a few days after their midweek fixture with Berriew was postponed.
Rosie Hughes gave Flint the lead after pass through by Beth Roberts, and were ahead for most of the first half in difficult pitch conditions.
However, just before halftime Tania Wylde found the equaliser for Llanfair, and it wouldn’t be her last goal of the game.
Set up by Wylde, Sophie Cook fired home to give Llanfair United the lead, before Wylde scored three more herself, completing her hattrick, and a 5-1 win for the side who jump back up to 2nd, having finished runners-up in the division last season.
CPDM Bangor continued a recent improvement in performance, by once again coming from behind to pick up a point, this time against Llandudno.
Kelsey Davies gave Llandudno an early lead, but after coming from two down to draw 2-2 in the week against CPDM Y Felinheli, Bangor would comeback again.
A ball through the middle from Holly Owen-Roberts found Menna Evans, who placed an effort into the bottom right corner, meaning CPDM Bangor claimed another point, and are now joint with three other teams for points in the Genero Adran North.
Pure Swansea and Carmarthen Town have gone joint on points with Genero Adran South league leaders Cardiff Met, after wins on Sunday.
2nd placed Pure Swansea went 3-0 up against Penybont. Annabel Stokes opened the scoring just before the break with her fourth goal of the campaign.
Charley Haynes doubled the lead, before Kalena Walters-Wright scored her first goal in the Genero Adran Leagues to make it three for Chris Church’s side. Penybont got one back through Carys Minton, but it wasn’t to be for Leon Williams’ side, whose winning run in the league comes to an end.
An action-packed first half of football between Carmarthen Town and Taffs Well would ultimately decide the outcome, as the travelling Old Gold took all three points at Rhiw Dda’r.
Taffs Well goalkeeper Chrissy Kidley was sent off in the 10th minute of the game, in a big turning point in the game.
Aimee Heath latched onto the end of a pass through by Casi Jones, with Heath firing a left footed finish into the bottom right corner. Summer Evans concluded the scoring just before the break, in a 2-0 win for Carmarthen.
Evening kickoff in the Genero Adran South saw Cascade YC claim their first points of the season, with a 2-0 win over Llanelli Town AFC in a huge fixture at the bottom.
Ellis Lunn and Annaliese Lewis both scored at either end of the first half, in a needed boost for Cascade as they aim to lift themselves off the bottom of the table.
Elsewhere, the top three all won in the South Wales Women’s and Girls League Combined, as Llanrumney United, Trefelin BGC and Cambrian United all chase Genero Adran Leagues football.
Niamh Duggan scored a hattrick for Cambrian as they beat Ammanford AFC 4-1, with Sophie McMullen also on the scoresheet. Charley Hocking scored twice off the bench for Llanrumney in a 6-1 over Caldicot Town AFC, whilst it was a 4-1 win for Trefelin against Penydarren BGC.
Cardiff Wanderers won 3-1 against Talgarth Town to keep themselves top of Division One, whilst 2nd placed Undy AFC also keep the pressure on with a 6-1 against Nantyglo, including braces for Libby Brooks and Dani Buckland. Alana Murphy was back on the scoresheet for Nantyglo, with the former Cardiff City striker now on 25 for the campaign.
Barry Town United Linnets also claimed a comfortable win against Aberaman LGFC to continue their unbeaten league season. Rhiannon Khan, Yasmin Wilcox, Hope Rees, Ava Coomer and Daisy Price all scored twice in the game.
North Cardiff Cosmos (Blue) and Llangynwyd Rangers were also victorious as the title battle in Division Two between the two sides continues, whilst Caerphilly Dragons Development and Graig Villa Dino secured three points in the only two games of Division Three.
The Alun Evans League Cup Round One fixture between Tonyrefail Welfare and Johnstown AFC was also finally played after weeks of postponements. Courtney Lewis scored a hattrick as Johnstown headed for a 7-0 win and progression in the competition.
CPD Pwllheli advanced to the Semi-Finals of the North Wales Coast Llandudno Kia Women’s League Cup with a 4-1 win over Kinmel Bay. Sian Moore and Lois Thomas both scored twice, with a goal each in both halves. North Wales rising star Lexi Walsh scored the goal for Kinmel.
The tie between Llangefni Town and NFA will have to be replayed after confusion over extra-time and penalties. The hosts won the game 2-1 in extra-time after a top corner finish from Ellie Coulson, but they’ll do it all again next Sunday.
A goalless draw between Denbigh Town and CPDM Henllan in the league, whilst a six-goal thriller was played out between CPDM Llanystumdwy and Caernarfon Town.
3-1 down in the game, Caernarfon Town scored in the 90+1st minute of the game to claim a point at 3-3, with Megan Williams scoring all three in a full senior debut for the 16-year-old.
Young winger Savannah Miller scored a hattrick as Wrexham Foresters continued their unbeaten league campaign at the top of the Central Wales League North, in a 7-0 win over Coedpoeth United.
Tregaron Town were also victorious again in a 4-2 win over Llanidloes Town. Llio Morgan gave Tregaron the lead before Alexandra George equalised just before the break. Annwen Evans scored twice off the bench to put Tregaron in control, with Megan Thomas scoring their fourth. Courtney-Ann Bryan-Jones also scored for Llanidloes.
In the Perago West Wales League, Mumbles Rangers went level on points with leaders Haverfordwest County with a 9-3 against Bryncoch in Division A.
Jordana Jones scored a hattrick on their way to a big win in the title race, with Haverfordwest having two games in hand.
In Division B, two goals each for Vicky Nicholas and Sammy Hayward beat Pontarddulais Town Development 6-1, to go top of the league. Like Division A however, the team they overtook AFC Resolven, have a game in hand.
