Pontypridd United duo Madison Lloyd and Seren Thomas have been recalled by parent club Cardiff City.
Both players joined Ponty on loan during the summer transfer window, but will head back to Cardiff City to continue the season with Iain Darbyshire’s side.
Despite a disappointing season for Pontypridd United, who remain without a point at the bottom of the Genero Adran Premier, it’s been an impressive season by Lloyd and Thomas who have been standouts for the newly promoted side.
It has also seen a first season back for Lloyd since recovering from an ACL injury, which kept her out of action last campaign. Originally training with the Cardiff City first team when she picked up the injury, the striker has ambitions to be back in the mix and playing week in week out for the Bluebirds.
Lloyd has been back to her best in a Ponty shirt, scoring 12 goals in all competitions, in 16 games played.
For Seren Thomas, it’s been a season of development and regular minutes so far after being in the first team frame at Cardiff City last season. The midfielder played 14 games in all competitions.
Thomas will only be allowed to play for Cardiff for the rest of the season unless she moved back to Ponty, with rules in Wales stating that a player can play for two clubs in one season. A slightly different scenario for Lloyd, who hasn’t played a game for Cardiff this season, so in theory could move elsewhere and still play this season. However, one game in a competitive competition for Cardiff City would change that.
There has been slight interest in the in-form forward, but she looks set to contribute to Cardiff’s title push.
