Ardal North West Play Off Winners Holyhead Hotspur made their Cymru North debut at the Go Goodwins Stadium Llandudno against many people’s dark horses for a top 3 spot Llandudno.
Before the match the fans, players and officials paid their respects to Welsh Legend Joey Jones.
Llandudno had plenty of chances but found Holyhead Hotspur Guto Hughes in fine form but he was finally beaten in the 49th minute when HARVEY BENNETT gave the home side the 3 points.
Newtown 3 Ruthin Town 0.
Cymru Sport’s live Friday Night action would come from Latham Park in Newtown. Relegated from the Cymru Premier for the first time a lot of people would be interested to see how the home side would react. Ruthin Town dramatically survived a last day shoot out at the expense of Bangor City. They wouldn’t want a repeat of that this season.
The news was Newtown reacted very well in fact within 5 minutes when Tomos Jones shot was diverted into the net by new signing from Guilsfield JAMIE HYNE. Plenty of chances for the home side but it was 1-0 at half time.
Four minutes into the second half Newtown struck again when a Louis Jacobs corner was whipped in and on the end of it was HYNE who headed in at the near post.
With Ruthin Town trying to get back in the game they gave the ball away while on a promising attack, on the edge of the Newtown penalty area they gave the ball away and the speed of the counter attack was frighting as LOUIS JACOBS fired a superb shot to score on his debut for the club.

A battle of the Ardal Champions at the Hop and Barley Community Stadium with the North West against the North East ended in a stalemate.
With Rhyl’s Goalkeeper Flynn Proctor making a fine save right at the end, the game ended goal less with both teams opening their points account for this season.

Cymru Sport were at the Globe, Buckley to see title favourites Air Bus face a tough opening game against Buckley Town.
And that’s what they exactly got as Buckley dominated the first half until a free kick just before the half an mark from Air Bus defender Keiran Evans bounced inside the box and a slight touch from GEORGE PEERS inside the six yard box gave the away side the lead.
Buckley again made a strong start to the second half but were undone seven minutes into it when new signing Mason Blackwell-Jones played in PEERS to score the Wingmakers second goal.
The contest was over when Sam Ricketts run gave the ball to PEERS inside the box to score via a deflection from Buckley defender Josh Allen.
Holywell Town 2 Flint Mountain 1.
Holywell Town took 13 minutes to open their Cymru North
campaign when ZAK KEMPSTER -DOWN put them ahead with a sublime volley into the top corner
Their lead was to last until five minutes into the second half when OWEN CASSIDY levelled things up.
With the clock ticking down up stepped Holywell Town’s stalwart DANNY SULLIVAN to curl the ball in to score the winner.
Gresford Athletic 1 Guilsfield 3
As at Llandudno on Friday night both teams joined in a minute silence for Wrexham legend Joey Jones.
Guilsfield made a great start to the season when after six minutes a long throw into the box met by the head of RHYS TILSLEY whose looping header gave the visitors the lead.
In the 27th minute they doubled their lead when SAM FLORY followed his first goal for the club in their cup win last week to score his first league goal when from a corner he smashed the ball home from close range.
Just before half time Gresford got back in the game when Iwan Roberts got the ball into the box to JAKE ROBERTS to tap home to make it 2-1 his second goal in as many games since his move from Holywell Town.
Just as we went into two minutes of added time a goal that would of destroyed Gresford when a free kick by James Smallwood found IWAN MATTHEWS who put the ball into the corner of the net.
Gresford were awarded a lifeline when a handball in the box with a penalty in the 78th minute Haci Ozlu spot kick sent Guilsfield Goalkeeper Luke Evans the wrong way only to see his penalty hit the post then the other post and then was cleared away.
Mold Alexandra 2 Penrhyncoch 2.
After a disappointing result in the cup last week Mold Alexandra gave manager Barry Owen a great start when they took the lead inside four minutes when from a corner by Cynan Edwards was met by MORGAN ROBERTS with a free header to score their opener.
The Roosters were level three minutes later when after back to back corners Owain Evans delivery saw DAN OWEN level the game.
Mold were back in front after the hour mark when from a cross CYNAN EDWARDS scored with a good finish.
With Mold Alexandra looking to pick up the three points Penrhyncoch OWAIN JAMES made sure they would take a point back to Mid Wales.
