Former Wrexham AFC youngster Lily Whitefoot scored twice as Llandudno came back from a goal down to progress to the Bute Energy Welsh Cup Quarter-Finals, with a 3-1 win over Wrexham Foresters, on a Sunday of women’s football in Wales once again hit by the weather.
The final tie of the Last 16 stage, a trip to Swansea City was up for grabs in North Wales, where tier three Wrexham Foresters took the lead at the Go Goodwins Stadium. Foresters skipper Morgan Churchill gave the Central Wales North side the advantage eight minutes in.
Convincing performances against CPDM Y Felinheli and Flint Town United saw Foresters make this stage of the competition, but Llandudno were determined not to be the next side on the end of an upset. Former Flint forward Jennifer Haynes levelled the tie just four minutes after the opening goal.
Llandudno added to their attacking depth with the signing of Lily Whitefoot a few weeks ago, after returning from the US.
Having originally been at Wrexham before moving away from Wales, Whitefoot was setup by Olivia Rigby just before the break to put Llandudno ahead in the tie.
The Genero Adran North side showed their quality and finished the job in the second half. Hannah Owen played into Whitefoot to score her second, and put the tie out of sight. A big result for Llandudno, who become the third tier two side to make the last eight of the competition this season.
Elsewhere in North Wales, Connah’s Quay Nomads scored ten to make it five from five in the Genero Adran North, against a Berriew side who were met by a Nomads team in top form.
Elana Harley and Polly Wild-McGregor both scored to open the scoring for Connah’s Quay at Deeside Stadium.
Ella Jones scored six goals in the game, taking her season tally up to 17 in the league. Megan Galeandro also scored twice to make it 10-0, in another strong performance from the league leaders.
CPDM Y Felinheli came from two goals down to claim a point against 2nd place Flint Town United at Bangor University’s Treborth.
Ruby Hastings put Flint ahead from close range after eight minutes, in the first weekend of Adran North action in 2026.
On the hour mark and the visitors doubled their lead. A ball down the left by Shannon Hobbs found the overlapping Rosie Hughes, who fired into the bottom corner at the near post to make it 2-0.
However, Felinheli would fight back. Llywela Edwards scored her sixth goal in all competitions this season to put the hosts back in the game, with a fantastic free-kick, before a late goal from Katie Midwinter from outside the area ensured Aaron Jones-Evans’ side claimed something from the game in a 2-2 draw.
Just one game from the North Wales Coast Llandudno Kia Women’s League Cup Round Two made it through the snow, as CPDM Henllan won a penalty shootout against Caernarfon Town, with the game finishing 1-1 after extra time.
Lleucu Williams gave Henllan the lead from a free-kick at St Asaph Leisure Centre in the 17th minute of the game.
On debut for Caernarfon after joining from CPDM Bangor, Heledd Evans levelled the game up in the 55th minute, in a close encounter.
Extra-time couldn’t separate the two sides, meaning penalties would decide the tie, with Henllan scoring all five of their spot kicks to book a spot in the semi-finals of the League Cup.
One game in the Central Wales North League was played, as Tregaron Turfs scored six past Coedpoeth United to move up to 3rd in tier three.
Megan Thomas opened the scoring for Tregaron at Aberystwyth University’s 3G, before Alaw Williams scored a hattrick, with two of those goals coming in the first half, including a free-kick into the top corner.
Two more goals both scored by substitute Mali Davies ensured that Tregaron picked up three points, as they continue to impress after making the step up from the Ceredigion League last season.
Haverfordwest County made it six wins from six with a 4-0 win against Bryncoch in the Perago West Wales Women’s League Division A. Mumbles Rangers continued the pressure on the league leaders, with an 8-2 win against Talycopa AFC.
A big win in the South Wales Women’s and Girls League Combined for Penclawdd AFC, who beat Llanbradach AFC 3-0 to jump above their opponents, as Penclawdd look to move away from the lower positions of the table.
Jessica Adams gave the hosts for lead, before second half goals from Hannah Williams and captain Alex Davies made sure of the points.
Cardiff Wanderers continued their positive start to the SWWGL Division One season, with the league leaders beating Nantyglo 2-0, whilst Llantwit Fardre claimed another impressive win against a side above them, beating Talgarth Town 2-0.
Millie Davies gave Fardre the lead, before Evie Henshaw doubled the lead in the second half, as they look to push towards the top of the league with games in hand.
Across the Cup competitions being played in South Wales, Carmarthen Town, Cambrian United and Undy AFC all progressed to Hugh James SWFA Cup Quarter-Finals, whilst Rockspur put five past Bonymaen Colts AFC to advance in the WWWGL Cup.
Gwalia United also made it through in their Cup tie, with goals from Georgia Walters and Tia Asker booking their spot in the semi-final of the FA Women’s National League Plate, in a 2-0 win against Brighton & Hove Albion Academy.
Despite several games being postponed, it was a Sunday with lots of football still played, the results of which can all be found below.
