Llanfair United will be looking to move up to 2nd in the Genero Adran North when they face Berriew on Thursday evening.
A first league meeting between these two sides from Powys, and it’s a Berriew side looking to move off the bottom of the Adran North table, after CPDM Bangor’s comeback draw against CPDM Y Felinheli saw Bangor move above the newly promoted side.
This game will also be a repeat of the Central Wales FA Cup Final in April, which was won by Llanfair United 3-0 at Welshpool.
However, Llanfair Player/Manager Lucie Gwilt knows this is a different Berriew side to the one they faced in that final, as they look to bounce back from defeat to Connah’s Quay Nomads at the weekend.
“It’s always going to be a competitive fixture against Berriew,” Gwilt says. “We know they’ll be a different side to the one we faced in the CWFA final last April, especially after promotion and strengthening their squad.”
Among their signings was former Llanfair United forward Dottie Evans, who has been a top performer in tier two. Evans has five goals from four league games so far this season.
With the formation of a Berriew Development side in the Central Wales North League, it has also seen many players signed on to develop in tier three, with some already stepping up to the Genero Adran North.
Despite the summer signings and progression in both camps, it’s been a run of inconsistency in terms of results for both, something Gwilt is hoping Llanfair can put right.
“Results have been mixed for both teams so far this season, but our focus is very much on what we can do rather than the opposition.
“We’ve had a bit of a break since our last game, but our recent performances against TNS and Bangor have given us real confidence.
“Despite a few forced changes through injury and availability, I’m confident we’ve got more than enough in the group to get a result here.”
After Flint Town United couldn’t hold onto a two goal advantage on Sunday against CPDM Y Felinheli, the opportunity has opened up for Llanfair United to jump back to 2nd with a win on Thursday night.
A chance to play for the first time in 2026, but to also have a positive performance before they host Flint at Mount Field this Sunday.
