Cefn Albion 1 CPD Y Rhyl 3
The Muga was the venue as Cefn Albion welcomed another Cymru North team and Ardal North West Champions Rhyl to their new ground for a Pre Season friendly. It would be a good test and run out for both teams. Thankfully it was cloudy and not as warm as it had been over the last couple of days.
A good crowd had come from North Wales to support their team as did the locals for the home team. The visitors made a strong start with Lewis Hodson looking dangerous on the right wing. It was Hodson who whipped in a fabulous cross onto the head of Dylan Proctor whose glancing header skimmed the outside the post. It wouldn’t be long before the Cymru North side took the lead when LEWIS HODSON at the back post put his side 1-0 up. It was a bit hard on Cefn Albion who were having their best spell of the match until the goal arrived.
Then a long ball from the Cefn Albion defence was exquisitely brought down from the air by TRIALIST A who in one movement lopped the Rhyl goalkeeper to put the Ardal North East team level. Cefn Albion goalkeeper made some good saves to turn shots by Hodson and Proctor past the post to make sure the teams were level at Half Time.
The second half started with Rhyl having plenty of the ball their crisp passing and consent movement their keeping hold the ball was impressive. A Rhyl cross into the box and was headed on by a Cefn defender with indecision in the defence gambling away from distance and pace was DYLAN PROCTOR who at the back post put his team back in front. A few minutes later great run and skill by LEWIS HODSON who ran at the defence to score his second of the game and Rhyl’s third goal when his shot went into the net via the inside of the post.
Cefn Albion put a few subs and trialists on, but Rhyl could sense the home team were looking tired by their retention of the ball. The new signings for Rhyl looked impressive and comfortable with the ball especially the defence with Kieran Baker, Dan Wood and Leo Latter
Cefn Albion will be happy with workout and their play especially playing against higher opposition in two Cymru North teams for the second time in a week.
Rhyl’s Management team Paul Moore and Ronnie Green will be pleased with their teams performance especially keeping hold of the ball and their passing plus scoring three goals against spirited opposition. A good nights work for both teams.
