Two weekends to go until Christmas, and there\u2019s still some big fixtures to be played in the domestic women\u2019s game in Wales.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It\u2019s Genero Adran Trophy weekend with the Quarter-Finals upon us, featuring another South Wales derby. With the remaining teams in the Trophy all tier one, Clubs in the Genero Adran North and South have a week off (apart from Cardiff Met, who are competing in the Hugh James SWFA Women\u2019s Cup.)<\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Teams in the South Wales League Combined are competing in the Alun Evans League Cup, with tier three sides in the SWWGL not returning to action until the new year. For the West Wales League, North Wales Coast League and Central Wales North League, league action continues, with Haverfordwest County, Llangefni Town and Wrexham Foresters looking to continue their table topping starts to the 2025\/26 season.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Here\u2019s a deep dive into those Adran Trophy games, plus a featured game in the leagues below!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Ferry will be looking to match their progress in the Trophy last season when they face Barry Town United on Sunday.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In a record-breaking season for the Club, they also competed well in this competition, reaching the Semi-Finals before losing out to The New Saints.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For Barry, they\u2019ve already matched their Trophy finish from last time out, with James Fishlock\u2019s side looking to make the Semi-Finals for the first time in their history.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Both sides have been relatively inconsistent this season, with Ferry in better form going into the game. However, they\u2019ve had a week break from action after their most recent Genero Adran Premier fixture with Cardiff City was postponed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Recent fixtures between the two also go in the home side\u2019s favour, with Rhys Thomas\u2019 side beating Barry both times this season. A 4-1 win away back in October, and more recently a 3-0 win at The Renewable Centre Stadium (Old Road.) Jade Crofts scored three times across the two fixtures, whilst Lucy Powell, Megan Kearle, Maia Owen, Grace Evans and Brooke Llewelyn were all involved with the goals in those two fixtures.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Despite the recent loss to Briton Ferry, Barry will be going into the game full of confidence after their 1-1 draw on the road at The New Saints. Chelsea Cochrane gave The Linnets the lead, before Lexie Harrison equalised for TNS. A brilliant display by Molly Arnesen in the Barry goal ensured the away side claimed a point from the game. Without the suspended James Fishlock for that game, but a big performance by his team.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/p>\n\n\n\n

With that said, whilst the odds will be stacked against Barry due to recent meetings with Briton Ferry, there is every chance that another spirited performance could see them through to the final four.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A repeat of last weekend\u2019s Adran Premier fixture, this Quarter-Final tie is far from a walk in the park for the topflight leaders Wrexham.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Jenny Sugarman\u2019s side have been incredible this season, losing just once in all competitions. The Red Dragons sit top of the Adran Premier, as they look to take the crown from Cardiff City in Wales.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It is also important that Wrexham look to win the Cup competitions, if they are to truly challenge Cardiff when it comes to silverware. Despite two Cup finals in recent seasons, they are yet to win a first major competition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Adran Trophy is another chance for them to do so. Aberystwyth Town stand in their way of a spot in the Semi-Final, the stage they were eliminated at last season.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It\u2019s an Aber side who will have a lot of belief coming into the fixture. The Seasiders are also in search of a first major title in Wales. They have also reached the semi-finals of this competition on a few occasions, as recently as 2024.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Wrexham won this fixture 3-2 last week at The Rock, but they were made to work for it. Rosie Hughes gave the home side the lead, but a quickfire double from Aber Town captain Amy Jenkins gave Aber a shock lead against the league leaders.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The first of the two was a brilliant long-range effort from Jenkins, before good work from Aber youngster Seren Evans down the right allowed Jenkins to double her tally.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/p>\n\n\n\n

After a brilliant long-range finish from Mariam Mahmood, and a well-worked second for Rosie Hughes, Wrexham would go on to claim a vital victory back at The Rock. However, Aber kept pushing in the second half, and it could have been a very different story on the day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Adran Trophy holders The New Saints will be looking to defend their title this season, with Pontypridd United their next challenge at the Quarter-Final stage.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

It\u2019s been a season of much change for TNS. Mike Harris remains in charge on an interim basis after the departure of Jodie Williams.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/p>\n\n\n\n

There\u2019s been a clear improvement from The Saints in terms of consistency, but the most recent two results will be frustrating for Harris. A draw with Cardiff City despite being 3-1 up in the game, and the same outcome against Barry Town United last weekend in a 1-1 draw, means TNS remain in the top four, but it could have been a much bigger gap between themselves and the chasing Briton Ferry Llansawel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Recent games has seen Lexie Harrison hit top form back in Saints colours. Without a goal before November, the attacking-minded player has scored in all of TNS\u2019 last five games. Harris has found a way of getting the best out of the former Wolverhampton Wanderers player.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/p>\n\n\n\n

They\u2019ll be looking to put the frustration of the last two weeks behind them when they host Pontypridd United on Sunday, a side who have found positive performances in the Cup competitions this season. A welcome distraction from a tough league season for the newly promoted side.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ponty are still yet to register a point in the Genero Adran Premier after 11 league games. They\u2019ve ran teams close this season but have not quite managed to get a result as of yet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/p>\n\n\n\n

However, wins against Llanelli Town and Pontypridd AFC in the Genero Adran Trophy and Bute Energy Welsh Cup respectively, means the travelling side on Sunday can take some belief going into the game at Park Hall.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Former Caldicot Town manager Kellan Webb has led the team in recent weeks, and with it looking likely that Webb will continue at least until the end of the season, he\u2019ll be delighted with the recent form of talented young striker Madison Lloyd.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/p>\n\n\n\n

With Ponty for this season from Cardiff City, Lloyd was one of the most promising players coming through at The Bluebirds in 2023\/24 and featured in the first team on numerous occasions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/p>\n\n\n\n

However, an ACL injury kept the striker out of action last season. To see Lloyd back in form, with 10 goals in all competitions, is a brilliant story which hopefully continues.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Lloyd scored in the last meeting between United and TNS. A heavy 6-1 defeat for the travelling Ponty back in October in the Adran Premier. An improved Pontypridd side since then, but no doubt The New Saints will be the favourites for Sunday\u2019s game.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Swansea City vs Cardiff City<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Cardiff City have come out on top in both of the South Wales derbies this season, and will be looking to push for another treble winning season with the Adran Trophy a vital part of that.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/p>\n\n\n\n

However, it could be the most difficult task yet in that fixture, when Swansea and Cardiff face off again on Sunday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It\u2019s a Swansea City side who look full of confidence again under Yzzy Taylor. Last time out against Cardiff City, The Swans actually took the lead and were probably the better side for much of the game. In usual Cardiff City fashion though, Iain Darbyshire\u2019s side completed a comeback, with pacey winger Mikayla Cook playing a key role in that.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Due to a suspension carrying over from last season, Cook is unavailable for Sunday\u2019s Adran Trophy game. A huge player to be missing for The Bluebirds in a highly contested fixture.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/p>\n\n\n\n

With home advantage behind them at Llandarcy and coming into the game on the back of a win against Pontypridd United, the Adran Trophy 2025 finalists will have a lot of belief that they can progress into the Semi-Finals of the competition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For Cardiff City, The Bluebirds didn\u2019t play at the weekend, after their game in the Adran Premier with Briton Ferry was postponed. Their last game was a thrilling comeback draw against TNS, with Laura Curnock scoring a last-minute equaliser to claim a point, taking her tally to 10 goals in all competitions this season.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/p>\n\n\n\n

There could be rotation for Cardiff City, not just with the Adran Premier with a close battle with Wrexham in mind, but also a tendency to give youth a chance in Cup competitions, which usually pays off for Iain Darbyshire to his credit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Elexis Lowe, Holly Jones, Paige Parsons, Somoraa Fletcher, Lucy Malin, Emilia Ashun, and Ffion Saunders were all involved for Cardiff when they beat Flint Town United 7-0 in the last round of the Adran Trophy. No doubt, this is a different game, against a side battling at the top with themselves, so it will be interesting to see the sort of side that Cardiff City will put out on Sunday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Swansea City eliminated Cardiff Met in the last round of this competition, with Aimee Deacon continuing her incredible season with two goals in that game. Stacey John and Emily Richards also scored to help Swansea through to the next round.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/p>\n\n\n\n

With lots of factors favouring the home side, this could turn out to be the closest fixture between these two teams this season.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We head to the North Wales Coast Llandudno Kia League for this week\u2019s featured game, as top of the league Llangefni Town look to take another step in their push for tier two, against a side who were there last season.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/p>\n\n\n\n

NFA have responded well after their relegation from the Genero Adran North last season, currently in 3rd<\/sup> place with 17 points from 9 games. Niall McGuiness\u2019 side have had a relatively successful season so far, with only those above them to have taken maximum points off the Rhyl-based side.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It was a big day for the Club a few weeks ago in the Bute Energy Welsh Cup too, hosting Wrexham at Derwen Road. Despite a heavy defeat to the Adran Premier leaders, lots of eyes were on NFA as a Club, with many being able to watch live from across the world. A massive game for off the pitch matters too in terms of gate receipts, with over 300 in attendance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/p>\n\n\n\n

NFA come into this game on the back of a 2-2 draw with CPD Merched Henllan, with Lauren Jones and Sade Benjamin, both formerly of CPD Y Rhyl 1879, both on the scoresheet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/p>\n\n\n\n

They face a Llangefni Town side looking to finally make tier two, after being so unfortunate in recent seasons for various reasons.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/p>\n\n\n\n

However, there\u2019s a feeling that this could be the season for Dan Gregg\u2019s side, coming into this game on the back of a 5-0 win against a strong CPDM Llanystumdwy side. A brace from both Amber Brown and Ffion Owen helped Llangefni on their way, whilst Marissa George was also on the scoresheet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Brown\u2019s second goal in that game was here 14th<\/sup> league goal of the season, with the former Caernarfon Town youngster making a name for herself in North Wales.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It\u2019s a team full of players ready to make that step up to tier two, if they haven\u2019t already been there before. Eight wins from eight games, they\u2019ll no doubt be aiming for an unbeaten season, with NFA being another big test.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
