It\u2019s another weekend of Cup competition in the Welsh women\u2019s football scene, with the Round of 16 stage of the Bute Energy Welsh Cup among us, with six games being played this weekend.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sides from tier one, two, three and four all remain. South Wales Women\u2019s League Division One side Llantwit Fardre are the lowest ranked side left in the competition and will travel to Genero Adran South side Cwmbran Celtic.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/p>\n\n\n\n

North Wales Coast Llandudno Kia side CPDM Llanystumdwy face a big challenge in Genero Adran Premier side Swansea City, away at Llandarcy, whilst SWWGL Combined side Cambrian United will also test themselves against top four opposition from the topflight.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Penybont\u2019s reward for beating Adran Premier opposition last time out is a trip to high flying Wrexham, with fellow Adran South peers Pure Swansea and Carmarthen Town also facing teams from the topflight.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Whilst most domestic leagues have finished for 2025, the Perago West Wales Women\u2019s League continues for another weekend before the winter break, with a 2nd<\/sup> vs 3rd<\/sup> game to be played.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Our live commentary for Sunday\u2019s fixtures comes at the LHP Stadium, as Genero Adran South side Carmarthen Town will be looking to beat the side that won their division last season – Pontypridd United.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Old Gold come into the game on the back of a vital 1-0 win at home to Llanelli Town, as they continue their immediate push for the topflight. Carwyn Phillips\u2019 side sit just three points off Adran South leaders Cardiff Met, with several teams still in the title race.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Carmarthen have beaten Llanelli and Goytre AFC to get to this stage of the Bute Energy Welsh Cup. A late winner from former Swansea City forward Jasmine Guymer setup Sunday\u2019s tie with Adran Premier opposition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It will be a first ever meeting with Pontypridd United, and the hosts will fancy their chances against the Adran Prem\u2019s bottom side. Ponty remain without a point in the league, and although Cup competition has been a good distraction, last week\u2019s 5-1 defeat to Swansea City saw The Dragons eliminated from Genero Adran Trophy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Currently lead on an interim basis by Kellan Webb, United reached the Semi-Finals of this competition last season, before being defeated by Wrexham.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

They beat rivals Pontypridd AFC 6-1 in the last round. A hattrick from Madison Lloyd, a brace from Luana D\u2019Ambrosio and a Saoirse Healey finish meant Ponty were comfortably through against lower league opposition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Whilst still against lower league opposition, this may well be a test which a young Pontypridd side haven\u2019t faced as of yet. This is a Carmarthen Town team with a realistic chance of reaching the Adran Premier, and a side who will be looking to swap places with their Adran Premier opponents come the end of the season.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Jenny Sugarman will have to ensure her Wrexham AFC side don\u2019t show complacency against the only lower league side to have beaten an Adran Premier team this season.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Adran North Penybont knocked out Barry Town United in the last stage of the Bute Energy Welsh Cup. After the initial 90 minutes ended 0-0, with Mae Taylor putting away the winning penalty in Bridgend.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Under the leadership of Leon Williams, that win against Barry led to a rise in form. Crucial wins over Llanelli and Cascade in the Genero Adran South means Penybont are back in the picture for a top half finish, which would equal their success last season in their inaugural season at that level.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Despite a change in management, and last season\u2019s overall women\u2019s top scorer Casey Daniels departing for new opportunities, Bont are back on the right track. A mix of youngsters breaking through and players with Adran Premier experience such as Cerys Jones, Holly Broad and Maisy Fahey-Pennell, have made Penybont very hard to beat.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/p>\n\n\n\n

However, make no mistake about it, this is a monumental challenge.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It\u2019s a Wrexham side who won 11-0 against NFA last time out in the competition, and there other game against lower league opposition resulted in a 9-0 win for Sugarman\u2019s side over Llandudno. They can be relentless with the quality across their squad.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Faye Knox and Rosie Hughes both scored hattricks in that win against NFA, with the latter scoring four. Carra Jones, Abbie Iddenden, Mariam Mahmood and Ava Suckley all got their name on the scoresheet that day as well.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What could be on Penybont\u2019s side is Wrexham\u2019s recent games. A scare not just once but twice against Aberystwyth Town showed that Wrexham are still not quite as comfortable as they would like against teams this season. Only penalties separated Aber and Wrexham last weekend in the Genero Adran Trophy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A game you would expect Wrexham to win, but if any Adran North\/South team was going to upset the script, it could well be the side who have already done that this season.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Tier Three Cambrian United have home advantage when they face Adran Premier top half side The New Saints.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Managed by former Cymru international Claire O\u2019Sullivan, Cambrian are battling at the top end of the South Wales Women\u2019s League Combined, as they make the push for Adran Leagues football. 17 points from 7 games so far, with 4 games in hand on runaway leaders Llanrumney United.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Despite being one of the lower ranked sides left in the competition, they\u2019re yet to come up against a side above them in the pyramid. Wins against fellow league side Fairwater and SWWGL Division One side Porth Harlequins BGC setup Sunday\u2019s tie with Adran Premier opposition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What stands out with Cambrian, is they\u2019re not reliant on one player to put the ball in the back of the net. Whilst former Cardiff City LFC (Gwalia) midfielder Kelly Isaac is a regular feature on the scoresheet, this competition alone as seen five different scorers for Cambrian.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A brace from Hazel Lockwood-Jones and one each for Paige Richardson, Seren Farrup and former Pontypridd United forward Sophie McMullen ensured Sunday\u2019s host made it comfortable through the first stage, before a brace each for Isaac and Lockwood-Jones and another for McMullen saw them progress past Porth.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/p>\n\n\n\n

They come into this game on the back of a brilliant 5-0 win against a strong Penydarren BGC side, which saw Cambrian progress into Round Two of the Alun Evans League Cup. New signing Niamh Duggan scored in that game, as she made her comeback after a few months out of playing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This will be their first test against an Adran Premier side under O\u2019Sullivan, as an improved TNS side come to town.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/p>\n\n\n\n

After progressing into the Semi-Finals of the Genero Adran Trophy last week, Mike Harris\u2019 side will be looking to progress in yet another Cup competition. Tiggy Webb, Lexie Harrison and Maria Francis-Jones were all on the scoresheet in a 5-1 win over Pontypridd United.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Still not quite over the line for a top four finish, The Saints will be looking to grow some winning momentum after drawing their last two league games.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

However, they are on a six-game unbeaten run in all competitions. They beat Genero Adran North side CPDM Bangor 10-0 in the last round of the Bute Energy Welsh Cup, featuring a Tiggy Webb and Caitlin Chapman hattrick, with Webb scoring four.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This is another Cup tie for The New Saints where they will be heavy favourites, but last time they were on the road in Cup competition, they narrowly avoided an upset in the Adran Trophy against Llanfair United. They\u2019ll be looking for a more convincing performance in South Wales.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The only remaining team from tier three in North Wales travel South in the Bute Energy Welsh Cup, as CPDM Llanystumdwy face Swansea City.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Competing in the North Wales Coast Llandudno Kia Women\u2019s League, Llanystumdwy knocked out last year\u2019s North Wales League West champions CPD Pwllheli, in a 2-1 victory at home.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A brace from Manon Evans was enough to see Sion Parry\u2019s side through to the Last 16 stage of the competition, already further than they\u2019ve been before. They have also beaten higher league opposition on their way, in a penalty shootout win against Adran North Berriew, with Sara Lacey saving the final penalty to send Llanystumdwy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It\u2019s been a mixed season so far for the North Wales side. Four wins from eight games so far, sitting 4th<\/sup> in the division. However, they haven\u2019t played since November due to postponements and come into this game on the back of a 5-0 defeat to league leaders in Llangefni Town.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A historic fixture away to a Swansea City side battling at the top end of the Genero Adran Premier and looking for regular silverware. The Swans last won a domestic cup competition in 2018 and are already out of the Genero Adran Trophy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Therefore, this is their final opportunity in this campaign. They were eliminated at the quarter-final stage last season, so a win on Sunday would match that finish, but no doubt Yzzy Taylor\u2019s side will want to go further than that.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/p>\n\n\n\n

They\u2019ll also be looking to bounce back with a dominant performance, after a heavy 6-0 defeat to South Wales rivals Cardiff City, which saw The Swans exit the Trophy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Last season\u2019s Adran Premier runners up Briton Ferry Llansawel come into Sunday\u2019s Bute Energy Welsh Cup clash with good momentum from a positive run of results, as they face Adran South promotion chasers Pure Swansea.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Three wins in a row in all competitions, and three clean sheets to go along with it. After a relatively inconsistent season so far from Ferry, Rhys Thomas will be pleased with his side\u2019s form of late.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Two wins against Barry Town United in the league and Adran Trophy, and a comfortable victory against Ammanford in the last stage of this competition, has seen the hosts progress in every competition. Ferry\u2019s overall top scorer Jade Crofts scored a hattrick in that Cup game. Megan Kearle bagged a brace, whilst Maia Owen and Manon Thomas also scored, to see them progress to the last 16.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/p>\n\n\n\n

They face a Pure Swansea side who narrowly booked their spot in the next round against Taffs Well. A 3-3 draw in normal time, former Swansea City youngster Katie Lee scored the winning penalty to send Pure Swansea through. They\u2019ve also beaten Johnstown to reach this stage, which saw Annabel Stokes score a hattrick.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Adopting the new name in the summer, previously named Swansea University, the Genero Adran South side are led by former Swansea City and Aberystwyth Town boss Chris Church. Currently 2nd<\/sup> in the Adran South, they\u2019re in the running with several others for the league title this season, and ultimately, a place in the Adran Playoff.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In Briton Ferry, they\u2019ll be facing team that they\u2019ll want to be playing against week in, week out in the near future. It\u2019s setup to be a close encounter at The Renewable Centre Stadium.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The lowest ranked side left in the competition travel to face tier two opposition, as SWWGL Division One side Llantwit Fardre face Genero Adran South Cwmbran.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A later kickoff for this one, tier four Fardre currently sit 5th<\/sup> in the league. However, they come into this game on the back of some impressive results.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Unbeaten since the start of October, they beat league leaders Cardiff Wanderers, before progressing in the Alun Evans League Cup in a penalty shootout win over Undy AFC, who are currently 2nd<\/sup> in their league.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/p>\n\n\n\n

They also beat Undy in the last stage of the Bute Energy Welsh Cup. 18-year-old Millie Davies scored twice early on to put Llantwit Fardre in control. Abigail Blandford scored in the second half to complete a 3-1 win.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the earlier stages, they also beat a team in the league above. A 6-3 win over Tier Three Penydarren BGC, in which Evie Henshaw scored a hattrick to help them through to the next stage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Whilst they have beaten opposition already, this is a completely different challenge in Cwmbran Celtic, who are two divisions above Fardre.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Genero Adran South side are in a new era under former Celtic star Georgia Shwartz. A statement win over Pure Swansea last time out means a win in their game in hand, would put Cwmbran just two points behind South leaders Cardiff Met.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Celtic have beaten Penclawdd AFC and Wattsville, so already have experience against teams in the leagues below.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The form of Lauren Boyd has been crucial for Cwmbran Celtic. 9 goals in 11 games in all competitions, and in this competition alone has 8 goal contributions to her name. She scored the winner last time out against Pure Swansea.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A first meeting between the two sides in recent history, and the tie itself guarantees a team outside the Adran Premier progressing through to the Quarter-Finals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Our featured game of the week comes in tier four, as 2nd<\/sup> vs 3rd<\/sup> go head-to-head in the Perago West Wales Women\u2019s League Division A.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Playing in Division B last season, the visitors Burry Port will be looking to bounce back after defeat to league leaders Haverfordwest County last week.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Carla Giannini\u2019s early reply wasn\u2019t enough for side 3rd<\/sup> in the league to claim anything from the game. It takes her tally to seven goals for the campaign in six games.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/p>\n\n\n\n

They face a Mumbles Rangers side looking to put the pressure on Haverfordwest, and they come into this game on the back of some positive displays.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dominant wins against Morriston Town AFC and Bonymaen Colts AFC means they\u2019ll be full of confidence. Rangers are free scoring currently, and are joint with Haverfordwest for goals scored in the league this season with 23. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Captain Jodie Hammond has been in form this season, with 26 goal contributions in all competitions this season, including five assists in their last game against Bonymaen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The last weekend of action in the West Wales Leagues before the year ends, and with Haverfordwest County not playing, a chance for either side to gain points ahead of the new year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
