Four Genero Adran Premier sides have booked their spot in the final eight of the Bute Energy Welsh Cup, alongside two clubs from the Genero Adran South, whilst there was also three games in the Perago West Wales Leagues with a thriller at the top end of Division A.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The upset of the round in the Bute Energy Welsh Cup came at the LHP Stadium, as tier two Carmarthen Town defeated Adran Premier side Pontypridd United to reach the quarter-finals for the first time, whilst becoming just the second team from outside the top flight to beat top flight opposition this season.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Old Gold took the lead on the half hour mark. Casi Jones won a penalty for the hosts, before Summer Evans struck into the roof of the net to give the tier two side the advantage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Five minutes later and it was two for Carmarthen, and it was a well worked goal too. Good hold up play from Flavia Jenkins in the centre allowed the forward to turn and pick a pass out down the right to younger sister, Ophelia Jenkins, who slotted past Ponty goalkeeper Alysha Hawkins to double the home side\u2019s advantage. A sixth goal contribution of the season for former Wales U16 international Ophelia Jenkins, who has made her mark in her first senior season at Carmarthen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

An improved second half from Pontypridd United, who made several changes, including a debut off the bench for young winger Ruby Stacey.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The visitors hit back with 20 minutes left to play. A ball to the right from Nicole Fenton found Evie Brown, making her full senior debut for Ponty, with the forward firing into the back of the net, giving The Dragons some hope in the game.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Despite a late push, it was Carwyn Phillips\u2019 Carmarthen side that progressed into the quarter-finals of the competition, in a remarkable rise from tier five football after forming in 2022.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/p>\n\n\n\n

They will be joined by fellow Genero Adran South side Cwmbran Celtic, who beat Llantwit Fardre 5-1 to progress into the Quarter-Finals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A different dynamic, with Fardre being the lowest ranked side left in the competition from tier four, so it was Cwmbran going into the game as favourites.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

They made it a comfortable win too, going 4-0 up before the visitors could reply. Casey Daniels opened the scoring, before Cerys Shipley doubled the lead, with both goals setup by Hollie Channing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Two minutes into the second half and it was three. A brace for Shipley, with the promising winger putting Celtic in control. Minutes later it was four, as Georgina Cridland got on the scoresheet and again, it was Channing with the assist.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Carys Woodward replied for the visitors immediately after Cridland\u2019s goal, but in truth the outcome of the game wasn\u2019t in doubt. Fiona Anthony added a fifth for Georgia Shwartz\u2019s side, which put the game to bed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Continuing with the theme of Adran South, Penybont were defeated by Wrexham AFC 4-0 in North Wales, but it took until the 45th<\/sup> minute for the Adran Premier high flyers to go ahead.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/p>\n\n\n\n

An incredible defensive display by Bont in the first half, aided by the signing of goalkeepers Georgia Tarullo who made several saves in the game. Wrexham took the lead through Hannah Snape, who struck from far out to give The Red Dragons the lead.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/p>\n\n\n\n

After the opener, Jenny Sugarman\u2019s side improved in the second half, and were 2-0 within 12 minutes of the restart. A ball through from Lili Jones found Rosie Hughes, who made no mistake one-on-one with Tarullo to double Wrexham\u2019s lead.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Katie Barker was introduced to the game on the hour mark by Sugarman, and it didn\u2019t take long to add her name to the scoresheet. A cross into the area by Faye Knox found Barker, who scored Wrexham\u2019s third.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

With a few minutes remaining, Wrexham sealed the win, and it was Barker involved again to make it four. Another cross into the area found Nat Clark, who rounded off the scoring for the hosts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A well-battled performance by Penybont, but the quality Wrexham have at their disposal showed on the day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The other tier two side who played on Sunday, also from the South, were Pure Swansea, who travelled to Briton Ferry Llansawel. Despite the visitors battling for promotion in the Adran South, it was a comfortable victory in the end for Ferry who came out 5-0 winners at The Renewable Centre Stadium.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A double from the clinical Jade Crofts gave Ferry a 2-0 lead at the break. A brilliant strike from Jess Denscombe made it three with 25 minutes to go to put Briton Ferry in full control of the tie.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Skillful forward Lauren Payne was introduced to the game, and made an immediate impact, scoring four minutes after coming onto the field to make it four. She scored a second and Ferry\u2019s fifth with five minutes to go after good work from Manon Thomas to set up the goal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
