It was the return of Cefn Albion after 3 years of playing away from their home ground, on Tuesday night they finally returned to the Muga to host newly relegated Cymru Premier side Newtown in a pre season friendly. It was both teams first pre season game.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Newtown started as you expect with crisp passing one and two touch , Cefn Albion using their strength to get the ball back. In fact even though Newtown had the better start , Cefn Albion were starting to get well into the Newtown half and were pressing forward when they got hit when Tarran Hollinshead got forward crossed it into the path of JAMIE HYNE who scored his first goal for his new club after moving from Guilsfield in the summer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The same two players combined to get goal number two for the Robins when HYNE doubled their lead inside the penalty area. To Cefn Albion’s credit they dug in and Newtown’s new and returning goalkeeper Dave Jones had to make a couple of good saves especially with one follow up save he was helped by team mate Jolyon Harries who cleared off the line just in time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/p>\n\n\n\n

But with half an hour gone Cefn were hit on the counter with a superb team goal which new manager Nathan Leonard will be pleased with the passing and movement for HYNE to complete his hat trick with a sweet strike.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

THE NEW STAND AT THE MUGA<\/strong><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n

The second half started with Newtown putting on a different team with new club signing from Gresford Athletic Charley Edge coming on with the Captain’s armband. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

But it was Cefn Albion who started well with three shots on target all well saved. Newtown started to get back into a rhythm and seemed to have that extra touch ahead of Cefn and switching them from side to side , especially with Edge looking sharp, but for him his game was about to end when he was involved in a challenge and he went down immediately in pain with the fantastic work of the Newtown medical team Charley was taken away for an x ray, we wish him a speedy recovery and our best wishes from Cymru Sport.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

One of the second half starters for Newtown was the impressive and fast Tom Jones who is on loan from The New Saints he started on the right side then switched to the left in fact he was everywhere, just before the end he was fouled inside the penalty area Referee Ryan Davies immediately pointed to the penalty spot TOM JONES dusted himself down and sent the keeper the wrong way just before the final whistle blew.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For both teams this was their first pre season friendly and both will be fairly happy with their performance and especially the much needed workout.<\/p>\n\n\n

It was a great night for Cefn Albion to return back home and a superb crowd to watch football again. Plenty of positive vibes around the club.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Newtown will also see plenty of positives too mixing youth and experience players they were comfortable in procession, passing and their movement as they look to get back into the Cymru Premier at the first time of asking.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
