Wrexham AFC could go top of the Genero Adran U19s Premier Conference on Sunday against Barry Town United, if results go their way from the Friday evening games and they win their own fixture.
Three wins from their opening four games of Phase Two sees The Red Dragons in 3rd place, two points behind their league leading opponents at The Rock. Gareth Owen’s side put six past Carmarthen Town last week on the road.
Liv Fuller gave Wrexham the lead in her first game back since recovering from a long-term injury. Annie Collins, Sienna Perry and Ana Jones also scored to put the away side four to the good at the break.
Jones completed her hattrick in the second half, in what has been a breakthrough season for the 15-year-old, having already appeared in the Genero Adran Premier. Libby Hayhurst and Ffion Miles hit back for Carmarthen, but it wasn’t to be for The Old Gold.
Wrexham host a Barry side who have made their intentions clear in their first five games of Phase Two. The Linnets have gone unbeaten so far, with Tom Davies’ side beating current holders Cardiff City last week at Ocean Park Arena.
Barry went ahead inside 20 minutes through Millie Breen, before a clever free-kick from Eleni Tucker made it two six minutes into the second half.
Alys Wilson responded for Cardiff, but it would be Barry to claim all three points and stay top of the league. The result also means Cardiff have just one win from their opening six matches, and will need an impressive run of form to turn things around.
The Bluebirds travel to Llandarcy on Friday evening to face Briton Ferry Llansawel. A 2-2 draw in November between the two sides sets this up to be another close encounter, with both looking to respond to defeat last time out.
After back-to-back wins, Ferry were defeated by 2nd place The New Saints in a 2-0 defeat on Sunday. Ruby Smith gave TNS the lead early in the second half.
Grace Thomas completed the scoring for the hosts at Park Hall, who continue their positive start to Phase Two having gone four games unbeaten.
They face more familiar opposition tonight at Park Hall, in the form of Connah’s Quay Nomads. The Saints were unbeaten against Connah’s Quay last season, but it’s been the complete opposite so far this campaign, with The Nomads winning 4-1 back in November.
Dan Roach’s side come into this game on the back of their first point of Phase Two, with a 1-1 draw against Pontypridd United via a last minute equaliser.
Ponty went ahead through Ruby Stacey six minutes into the second half, before Georgia Williams found the back of the net for Connah’s Quay Nomads with seconds to play at The Poppies 3G.
Drew Lewis’ Pontypridd United side return to the USW Sports Park this week, as they host Carmarthen Town. The Dragons won this encounter back in October, in 2-1 win away from home after goals from Torri Grenfell and Aimee Cake.
Just two games in the Championship Conference this week, as Llanelli Town AFC go in search of their first points of Phase Two at home to Taffs Well. Both sides didn’t play last week in the Genero Adran U19s League.
Cascade YC and Penybont will both be looking to bounce back from defeat last time out as they go head-to-head at CCB Centre For Sporting Excellence, in what was a close encounter back in October.
A first-half goal from Lily Mayne would turn out to be the deciding moments of the game, as Cascade claimed all three points on the road.
They will be looking to bounce back from defeat to Swansea City last week, in a game which didn’t go all Swansea’s way. Trinity Reakes gave Cascade the lead 13 minutes in.
Monet Legall equalised for The Swans, before a brace from Lowri Jones secured the win for Richard Harris’ side.
Penybont will be looking to respond to a 7-0 defeat to Aberystwyth Town, in what was a strong performance from The Seasiders.
Lita Egan scored a hattrick on their way to victory. Goals from Lily Moralee-Hughes, Amelie Talbot, Seren Evans and Ella Thomas wrapped up the scoring.
