Pontypridd United’s trip to Jenner Park headlines the Genero Adran U19s League fixtures this week, as The Dragons go in search of a statement result against Premier Conference league leaders Barry Town United.
Statement results tend to be a rarity, but not in this league. Barry fought from behind to beat Wrexham on Sunday, in a 2-1 win at The Rock which saw The Linnets go five points above the North Wales side.
Grace Morris gave Wrexham the lead, but Aliya Hull and Lucy Coles both scored to turn the game around for the former U19s champions, who continue their unbeaten run in Phase Two.
Barry face a Ponty side who come into this game on the back of a comfortable win at home to Carmarthen Town. Lydia Earles and Mali Ackerman made it 2-0 at the break, before Ruby Stacey scored a third.
The two sides have already faced eachother in Phase Two, which saw Barry run away 3-0 winners, via a first half Libby Emanuel hattrick.
2nd place The New Saints travel to South Wales to face current holders Cardiff City on Sunday afternoon, having fought back in dramatic style in their early Phase Two meeting.
Elexis Lowe and Eliza Keane gave The Bluebirds the lead that day at Park Hall, but a brace from Non Williams and a Grace Thomas finish saw TNS U19s claim their first win of the season.
Since then, they’ve remained unbeaten, and come into this game after a 6-3 win against North counterparts Connah’s Quay Nomads. A dramatic game which saw eight of the nine goals scored in the first half.
Non Williams and Bess Watson scored a brace for TNS, whilst Sofia Grice and Evie Foster also scored. Ella Jones and Hannah Slack responded for the Nomads, with Lexi Walsh scoring in her first game since joining from Kinmel Bay, but it wasn’t to be for the away side.
Cardiff City go into the game after a first win since early February, in a 2-0 victory away to Briton Ferry Llansawel. A penalty from Elexis Lowe opened the scoring, who would later be dismissed for a second yellow card. Elffin Bryant wrapped up the scoring with seconds to play.
Briton Ferry host Wrexham on Saturday at Llandarcy, with both sides looking to respond to defeats last week. This will be the second meeting between the two sides, with Wrexham 2-1 winners at The Rock earlier in Phase Two.
Sienna Perry opened the scoring, before Lucy Jones equalised for Ferry. Anna Owen fired home a winner just before the hour mark in January.
Carmarthen Town and Connah’s Quay Nomads continue their search of a first win of Phase Two, when the two sides meet for the first time at The Poppies 3G on Sunday.
In the Championship Conference, Taffs Well will be full of confidence when they face Swansea City on Friday night, after a 5-1 victory last week against Llanelli Town AFC.
Abigael Pritchard gave Llanelli the lead, before Rianne Jones equalised for The Wellwomen. Alys Grant put Taffs Well ahead just after the hour mark, with Jones completing a brace five minutes later.
Ruby Spear scored a late double, in Taffs Well’s second win in a row, having beaten Penybont two weeks before.
Swansea City had the week off last week, and will be looking to keep the pressure on Championship leaders Cardiff Met. The past two meetings between Swansea and Taffs Well have been full of goals. A 4-3 win for Swansea would begin Phase Two, with Taffs Well having beaten the Swans 6-3 in Phase One back in October.
Cardiff Met host Llanelli Town at Cyncoed Stadium, with the visitors still in search of a first point in Phase Two.
This will be Cardiff Met’s first game in a month, with the Championship leaders having won the two meetings between the sides this season, with the most recent featuring a Gracie-Mae Howard hattrick.
The other game in the Championship Conference sees both sides come into the game on the back of a win, as Cascade YC travel to Aberystwyth Town.
Caitlyn Salmoni’s brace helped Cascade on their way to three points in a 3-0 win against Penybont, with Carys Winmill Bevan also on the scoresheet for Friday’s visitors.
Aberystwyth will be looking to keep their name in contention for winning the Championship Conference group, after winning three of their first four games in Phase Two. They come into this one on the back of a 7-0 win against Penybont two weeks ago, which included a Lita Egan hattrick.
A close-encounter between the two sides in Phase One, a Lily Moralee-Hughes brace was enough for Aberystwyth that night in November. Emily Green’s penalty saw Cascade respond, but Aber Town held out.
