Genero Adran North side Flint Town United have announced that current player Rebecca Eagles has taken on the role of Player Manager.
This comes after the departure of Oli Williams after 14 months in charge at the Essity Stadium.
The former Rhyl, NFA, Connah’s Quay Nomads and CPD Y Rhyl 1879 midfielder joined Flint from the latter last summer. A well-renowned footballer in the North Wales scene, Eagles took her first steps into coaching with Flint earlier this season, but will now step up into the manager position.
Her first game in charge was against Llandudno last weekend, in a 3-2 win on the road for The Silkwomen. Eagles scored a header in that game from a Rosie Hughes corner, whilst Beth Roberts and Shannon Hobbs also scored for the away side.
A big three points for Flint, something they haven’t tasted since November and the perfect start to the Eagles era. It keeps Flint in 3rd, with 12 points from 8 games played.
She told Cymru Sport on stepping up to the Player/Manager role: “I’m delighted to be put into this role. Management is something I have always wanted to do and I couldn’t think of anywhere better to start.
“I believe my leadership and experience can really push this talented group of girls.”
Flint Town United’s next game is a trip to CPDM Bangor in the Genero Adran North, on Sunday 15th February, in a 2pm kick-off at the Bangor City Stadium.
