There will be a side from outside the top flight competing in the Bute Energy Welsh Cup Semi-Finals, as Cwmbran Celtic caused an upset in their 1-0 win against Genero Adran Premier side Briton Ferry Llansawel.
After impressive Cup runs by Llandudno and Carmarthen Town, they were eliminated at this stage of the competition by higher league opposition last week, meaning it was down to Cwmbran Celtic to ensure there would be tier two representation in the final four.
It would be a first half goal to decide the contest. Good work from Cerys Pinchard allowed former Ferry winger Casey Daniels to fire towards goal, and despite the effort being saved by Charlotte Merry, Fiona Anthony was alert to finish from close range.
That goal sees the Genero Adran South side advance to the final four of the competition, where Georgia Shwartz’ side will face Swansea City.
After postponements across the leagues, just two games were played on Sunday in the Genero Adran Premier, which saw Cardiff City make the perfect start to their Championship Conference campaign away at The New Saints.
Set-pieces were crucial for The Bluebirds once again, with their opening two goals coming from corner-kicks. Shannon Evans fired into the bottom right corner from inside the area, after the original corner was cleared, before Maddison Perrott headed home from Mackenzie Olden’s corner to make it 2-0 inside ten minutes.
It was three before the break, with all the goals coming in the first 16 minutes. Madison Lloyd found space to run into down the right, before cutting back to Lily Billingham to make it 3-0.
Lloyd hit the crossbar herself in the first half, but would eventually find a goal. Olden’s inverted run and pass found Lloyd, who calmly slotted home on the hour mark.
Caitlin Chapman hit back for TNS with 20 minutes to go, with a clever front post finish, but it would be too little too late for the hosts.
City would make it five to wrap up the win. This time, a free-kick from Ffion Price found the head of Shannon Evans, for her second of the game, and an important three points for Cardiff City.
Barry Town United scored all three of their goals in the second half as they made the perfect to their Plate Conference campaign against Aberystwyth Town.
Goalless at the break, Jasmine Turner put Barry ahead seconds into the second half, before an own goal made it two for The Linnets at Jenner Park.
Sienna Stone made it three for Barry inside the final ten minutes, taking them up to 6th in the league.
The fixture also saw a debut for Cymru U16s defender Carys Ford, who came on as a second-half substitute to become Barry’s youngster ever player in the top flight, at 15 years and 3 months. Ford has developed through Barry’s youth since U7s level.
Cardiff Met took another step to an instant Genero Adran Premier return, beating Genero Adran South title rivals Carmarthen Town 2-0 at Cyncoed Stadium.
All goals once again coming in the second half of this game, Esme Kilburn-Thompson and Carys Gittins both fired home midway through the second period, to secure all three points for Met.

Pure Swansea kept the pressure on Met with a 3-0 win against Taffs Well at the Swansea University Sports Centre.
A first-half double from Annabel Stokes saw Chris Church’s side take a 2-0 lead into the break, making it 11 for the season for the 19-year-old striker.
Hannah Duffy also got her name on the scoresheet in the final few minutes of the game, for another vital three points for Pure Swansea, and another disappointing result for Taffs Well who drop to the bottom of the table.
They replace Llanelli Town AFC at the bottom, but only by goal difference, as The Reds were also defeated at the weekend, by a Penybont side who continue to improve.

An own goal saw Bont take the lead at the break, before a second-half brace from Cerys Jones extend the advantage to three, as Jones continues to impress this season.
Nadia Phillips hit back with just over 20 minutes to play, but Penybont would see the game out for the win. The game also saw debuts for Penybont new signing Evie Brown and U19 star Ava Freeman, whilst Llanelli’s Elise Duffy was also awarded a senior debut, playing the full 90 minutes.
Flint Town United fought back from a goal down against CPDM Bangor in the Genero Adran North to ensure new boss Rebecca Eagles continues her 100% start to life as Player/Manager.
Bangor took the lead in the 10th minute. A corner into the front post by Holly Owen-Roberts found Cerys Parry, who put the hosts ahead.
Flint equalised just after the half hour mark. A corner from Rosie Hughes was clipped onto the bar by Rebecca Eagles, before dropping to Daisy Hughes at the back post, who tapped home for her first goal since early 2024.
The visitors went ahead for the first time in the game just before halftime. Good work from Beth Roberts to win the ball back on the byline was followed by a first time finish from Shannon Hobbs, the third game in a row where Hobbs has found the net.
It was Roberts again involved for Flint’s third goal. After bringing down a Rosie Hughes cross, Roberts played into the pass of Rebecca Eagles, who struck into the top left corner to secure the points for Flint.
Connah’s Quay Nomads won again to make it seven wins from seven at the top of the Genero Adran North, but had to survive a late comeback from CPDM Y Felinheli in a 3-2 win.
Ella Jones and Phoebe Ellis put Nomads 2-0 up at the break, with Ellis scoring her first senior goal since January last year after a spell out with injury.
With less than 20 minutes to play, Felinheli found a way back into the game after the hosts were awarded a penalty kick. Katie Houghton fired it home, her first goal since returning from a long-term ACL injury.
Connah’s Quay went back ahead through Jones with ten minutes to play for her 21st goal of the season in all competitions to secure the three points, despite Jenna Tugwell-Allsup’s free-kick late on for Felinheli’s second of the game.
NFA will face CPD Pwllhelli in the Final of the North Wales Coast Llandudno Kia League Cup, after both sides progressed on Sunday.
Niall McGuinness’ side beat Denbigh Town 3-0, with all of their goals coming in the second half.
Kayla Hargreaves struck home the opener just before the hour mark, before Loz Jones came off the bench to score twice, to secure NFA’s spot in the final.
They will face CPD Pwllhelli who put eight past CPD Merched Henllan away from home. Awel Ellis, Hayley Rees-Williams, and Stacey Sansome all scored twice, with Lois Thomas also scoring for Pwllhelli.
Llanrumney United’s 100% league record is over in the SWWGL Combined, but they fought back to ensure they were not beaten by Fairwater, who were 3-1 up against the league leaders.
Maddy Powell and Lois Rance gave Fairwater a 2-0 lead just eleven minutes into the game, before Jodie Newman put Llanrumney back into the game.
Fairwater captain Danielle Boucher scored a third for the visitors, who were 3-1 up until just after the hour mark. Zoe Atkins halved the deficit again, and a goal four minutes from time Jen Kemp ensured the hosts claimed a point.
In Division One, Llantwit Fardre beat Tonyrefail Welfare 4-0 to continue their push near the top of the league, whilst there were also wins for Abertilley Belles and Tredegar Town AFC.
Treorchy BGC and Goytre AFC (Gwent) Development played out a 1-1 draw with both goals in the closing stages of the game in Division Two, and there were wins for Broadlands AFC and Ponthir AFC in Division Three, with the latter continuing their title bid.
Anna Thomas, Kirstie Kural and Keri Sampson all scored twice as Wrexham Foresters beat Welshpool Town 9-0 in the Central Wales League North.
In West Wales, Mumbles Rangers and Rockspur will go head-to-head in the WWWGL Cup Final after winning their semi-final ties.
Jordana Jones scored twice for Mumbles in their 3-1 win against Burry Port, with Sarah Betterton also on the scoresheet.
For Rockspur, Rhiannon Thomas and Sammy Hayward both scored a brace in their 4-1 win against Morriston Town AFC.
The only game to survive the weather in the league action saw Bryncoch beat Clydach 3-1 in Division One, with goals from Ellie Gooby, Seren Gill and Tia Rees.
